Renting a boat in Karlskrona: the naval town's archipelago
Karlskrona was built as the base for Sweden's navy on the island of Trossö and its neighbours, at the eastern end of the Blekinge archipelago. Trossö's town plan and older buildings were added to UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1998 as the Naval Port of Karlskrona, and the town is still a naval base.
A 25 ft day cruiser for up to eight is listed in the town, with a digital chartplotter and a 250 hp engine that its owner says gets you around the archipelago quickly.
Just outside town lie Hasslö, with a guest harbour and family beaches, and Aspö, reached by a road ferry. Further out, Sturkö has the sandy beach at Hästholmen, and the small island of Ungskär has a natural harbour. Archipelago boats run daily to the eastern islands, so expect scheduled traffic in the channels. More islands and harbours are in our Karlskrona archipelago guide.
