Råå: the fishing harbour at the mouth of Råån
Råå is an old fishing village in southern Helsingborg, about 7 km from the city centre, where the Råån river meets the Öresund; around 1900 it was Sweden's largest fishing village. Boats kept here include a small 1970s sailing boat whose owner asks for at least the Swedish NFB förarbevis, and a cabin cruiser for up to eight. A day cruiser is also listed in Helsingborg.
The harbour has 2 to 2.5 m of water at mean level. Visiting boats use members' berths marked with a green sign, which means the berth is free, while red means taken; the fee is paid at the machine by the harbour office. Watch the entrance, where the current is at times strong. Ashore, the ramparts of Råå vallar were raised in 1712–13 after Danish landings here, and the cold-water bathhouse dates from 1897. Our Öresund guide includes the run from Helsingborg.
