Enebakk: lakes instead of sea
Enebakk, in Follo, has no coastline, but its lakes together cover an area about the size of the former Oppegård municipality. The largest is Øyeren, shared with Lillestrøm, Rælingen and Indre Østfold. Counting Svellet, it is Norway's ninth-largest lake at 84.7 km², and its deepest point, 75.5 m, lies off Rånes in the south of Enebakk. Smaller waters include Lyseren, Langen, Våg and Mjær, part of which is used by the local water-ski club.
A 17 ft open console boat for this area is not kept on the water. It has a 90 hp engine, chart plotter and canopy, and it comes on a trailer from Båstad in neighbouring Indre Østfold. You collect and return it at the owner's address, so you choose where to launch.
On Øyeren, take care in the north. Almost the whole northern part of the lake is only 1 to 3 m deep, and the Glomma delta there, the largest inland delta in the Nordic countries, is protected as Nordre Øyeren nature reserve.
