Eikelandsosen at the head of Eikelandsfjorden
Eikelandsosen is a village of just over 500 people at the inner end of Eikelandsfjorden, the eastern of the three arms that Fusafjorden splits into. Until 2020 it was the centre of Fusa municipality; today it belongs to Bjørnafjorden.
In Eikelandsosen itself, a 13 ft aluminium boat with a 25 hp four-stroke engine is kept for fishing trips and quiet days on the water. A motorboat with a 40 hp outboard is listed at Baldersheim, also in Bjørnafjorden municipality; its owner hands it over fuelled and expects it back that way.
Heading out, you run south down Eikelandsfjorden into Fusafjorden. The other two arms, Ådlandsfjorden and Samnangerfjorden, lie further west, and Samnangerfjorden reaches about 35 km in from the mouth of Fusafjorden. That mouth, between Bjørnetrynet near Halhjem and Vinnes, is about 8 km wide and opens onto Bjørnafjorden.
