What is Ship O’Hoi?
Duken, on the eastern shore of Nøtterøy
Duken is a small built-up area and postal district on the east side of Nøtterøy in Færder, between Nesbrygga and Knarberg. Just off this shore lie the islands of Bjerkøy and Årøy, with the outer Oslofjord beyond them.
The nearest boat is a day cruiser, which can come with a skipper, moored a little south along the same coast and listed under Færder. The others are spread across the district, on Tjøme and Nøtterøy, in Tønsberg and at Tolvsrød, in Sandefjord, Stokke and Hem, and a RIB is across the fjord in Larkollen.
Take it slowly right outside Duken. In Ekenessundet, Bjerkøysundet and Årøsund the limit for leisure boats is 5 knots, the same as within 100 m of any land, islet or visible skerry in Færder. For a loop round the whole island through the canal and Vrengen, see Færder and Tjøme by boat.
