Renting a boat in Bokn

Bokn is an island municipality of 125 islands, islets and skerries in the mouth of the Boknafjord. Four of them are inhabited: Vestre Bokn, Austre Bokn, Loten and Ognøy. On Bokn itself is a fast open boat that its owner recommends for fishing or a trip among the skerries. Another is a cabin cruiser at Avaldsnes on Karmøy, north-west across the water.

The E39 crosses the three main islands, and car ferries run between Arsvågen on Vestre Bokn and Mortavika on the Stavanger side. Watch for them when you cross that stretch. The Boknafjord is 580 m deep there, and it branches into dozens of side fjords further in.

If you go ashore, the highest point is Boknafjellet at 293 m, and the municipal centre is Føresvik.
