What is Ship O’Hoi?
Tananger, the old harbour of Sola
Tananger, in Sola municipality, has served as a refuge for ships in bad weather for centuries, and lobster was shipped from here to the Netherlands from the 1600s. Next to it, Risavika now holds the region's largest port. To the east, Hafrsfjord runs between Madla and Tananger to Sømmevågen near Stavanger airport, and the Sverd i fjell swords at Møllebukta mark the Viking-age battle fought on it.
A day cruiser is listed in Tananger, and its owner also lets it with a trailer. Kvitsøy, out in Boknafjorden, has a small open boat; the rest are in Stavanger, Sandnes, Hundvåg and Vassøy. Listed under Sola is a light rowing boat for lakes that its owner does not rent out for use at sea.
Kvitsøy is Norway's smallest municipality by area, 6.29 km² spread over 167 islands, islets and skerries, and it is one of the five Stavanger boat routes. Coming back into Risavika, the main fairway in the harbour basin has an 8-knot limit for leisure boats.
