Senja's outer coast around Torsken
The boats on this page are kept on the west side of Senja, Norway's second largest island, around the fishing village of Torsken. Some are practical boats for fishing and day trips, one with life jackets and fishing gear on board; another is a 33 ft working fishing boat offered for trips to the nearby sea.
The Torskefjorden runs 13 km into the island. At Torskøya, in its middle, it splits into narrower arms: Gryllefjorden runs north past the fishing village of Gryllefjord, and the inner arm reaches Torsken before dividing into Skipsfjorden and Osterfjorden. In summer a ferry sails from Gryllefjord out the fjord to Andenes on Andøya, so watch for it. This outer side of Senja faces the open sea, with steep mountains rising straight from the water.
