Pori: river boats and the delta
Pori sits on the Kokemäenjoki, whose delta begins in the city centre and runs about 10 km to the sea, splitting into four arms around islands such as Kirjurinluoto. Small open boats are listed in the city for river cruising. A cabin cruiser is kept out towards the sea near Reposaari, the outermost island of the delta about 30 km from the centre, and a slow solar-powered boat waits at the Santtu jetty on Reposaari.
The city has some 1,300 berths in 20 harbours. Its guest dock at Eteläranta in the centre has 18–20 places in 1.5–4 m of water. On the way out, the river fairway has silted up in Pihlavanlahti to 1.3 m at mean sea level, and a temporary route to the south, marked with blue-and-white buoys, gives 1.8 m. The city's boating season runs from 1 June to 15 October. Our Pori and Rauma guide goes on to Säppi and the national park islands.
