Gulets from Omiš at the mouth of the Cetina

Omiš lies about 21 km south-east of Split, where the Cetina reaches the Adriatic. The gulets on this page are all based in Omiš city port and sail with their own crew, rented by the week. Another listing, a bareboat sailing yacht, is not in Omiš at all but at Olive Island Marina in Sutomišćica on Ugljan, near Zadar.

In the 12th and 13th centuries Omiš was a base for corsairs, whose shallow boats could slip back into the river mouth. Their two fortresses still stand: Mirabella above the town, and Fortica higher up, with a view over the whole Brač channel to Brač, Hvar and Šolta.

Brač is directly across that channel. For a week around these islands, see our Split, Hvar and Brač sailing week, which passes Omiš on its last day. Small motor boats can also go about 7 km up the Cetina, as far as Radmanove mlinice.
