Renting a yacht in Baška Voda
The sailing yachts on this page, together with a large crewed motor yacht, are based in Baška Voda's harbour, the tourist and sports port in the middle of the village. It lies on the Makarska Riviera, about 10 km north-west of Makarska, and has sea berths for boats up to 24 m and a slipway for boats up to 10 m. Charters run by the week.
Behind the waterfront rises Biokovo; in front of it lies the Brač Channel. Straight across is Pučišća, a deep bay on Brač's north coast and the island's white-stone town, home to Croatia's only stonemason school. Along the mainland, the Riviera stretches some 60 km from neighbouring Brela to the Neretva delta, with Tučepi, Podgora and Makarska on the way. Our 7-day loop from Split to Hvar, Brač and Makarska calls at Baška Voda on day six.
Watch the wind. Croatia's weather service DHMZ lists Vrulje and the Makarska littoral among the well-known bura spots of the middle Adriatic, where the north-easterly comes down off the mountains in gusts. On this part of the coast, jugo is the more frequent strong wind: a steady south-easterly that is strongest in the channels between the islands and the mainland.
