Renting a boat in Nordvik: Lysefjorden and Ole Bull's island

Nordvik is a small village on Lysefjorden, south of Bergen, split between Fana in Bergen and Bjørnafjorden municipality and grown together with neighbouring Søvik. Lysefjorden is a 6 km arm of the Korsfjorden, 2–3 km wide, with its mouth between Korsneset in the north and the island of Skorpo in the south.

An open centre-console boat is based here, set up for fishing and family trips with a chartplotter and echo sounder.

The inner part of the fjord has more than ten larger holms and small islands. The biggest is Lysøen, where the violinist Ole Bull built his villa. The villa is closed for restoration, but the island stays open all year to anyone arriving in their own boat, with a quay, kilometres of paths and spots for swimming and picnics. For more trips south of Bergen, see our Bergen day-trip guide.
