Kinn: a municipality in two halves
Kinn municipality was formed in 2020 from Flora and Vågsøy, and it comes in two separate parts: Bremanger lies between the Florø half and the Måløy half, and the fast boat between the two towns takes about 1 hour 10 minutes. The boats listed here are in the Florø half: a pilothouse boat in Florø and a day cruiser on the small island of Store Oddane.
The municipality is named after the island of Kinn, reached by route boat from Florø. It covers 2.5 km², about 2 km each way, rises to 315 m and has no ordinary road. Its church, from the 1100s, is the oldest in Sunnfjord, and the deep cleft of Kinnaklova marks the island's skyline.
Svanøy, the municipality's southernmost island, has holly and other plants rarely found elsewhere in western Norway, and a stone cross raised in honour of St Olav.
