Järfälla: Görväln on Mälaren, boats in Stockholm
Järfälla, north-west of Stockholm, meets the eastern shore of Lake Mälaren at Görväln, a bay running north–south west of Kallhäll and Viksjö. Görväln castle lies in a deep inlet, and the Görväln nature reserve, with the Gåseborg hillfort, looks out over the water. The bay is also a drinking-water source: the Görväln waterworks on Skäftingeholmen takes its raw water here for 14 municipalities north of Stockholm.
No boats are listed in Järfälla itself; the boats shown are in Stockholm. They include a day cruiser for day trips or nights aboard, moored at a boat club on Brunnsviken, and a 25 ft cabin cruiser with toilet, galley and bow thruster. Brunnsviken is a 3.5 km brackish lake between Solna and Stockholm that joins Lilla Värtan through Ålkistan, so the day cruiser starts on the Baltic side rather than on Mälaren.
For the lake itself, see our guide to boating on Lake Mälaren.
