Renting a boat in Høvåg, west of Lillesand

Høvåg was a municipality of its own until 1962 and is now a parish in Lillesand. The village lies on the north side of Kjerkekilen, at the outer end of the peninsula between Isefjærfjorden and Kjerkekilen to the west and Blindleia and Røynevardsfjorden to the east. The name comes from Old Norse Høyvágar, from the words for hay and bay, and Høvåg church, a cruciform stone church, dates from the 1100s.

A 15 ft open console boat with a 60 hp outboard, a chart plotter and an echo sounder, plus rope and a grapnel anchor, is listed here, placed at Indre Årsnes by Årsneskilen.

From Kjerkekilen the Kassen canal leads through to Blindleia, the sheltered inner lead between Lillesand and Kristiansand. Our Kristiansand guide follows it with stops for swimming.
