What is Ship O’Hoi?

Kjøbmannsvig, opposite Ågerøya on Blindleia

Kjøbmannsvig is a small settlement in Høvåg, in the west of Lillesand municipality, looking straight out at Ågerøya, a car-free island in the middle of Blindleia. In the days of sail, the island's outport, Stranda, was its centre. Boats are handed over right here, such as a fast 23 ft RIB with a 200 hp outboard for up to twelve, which can come with a skipper on request, or a 15 ft console boat with a 30 hp outboard for up to five. The RIB's owner offers parking for a daily fee.

Also in Høvåg, the 200 m Kassenkanalen links Kvanneidfjorden, part of Blindleia, with Isefjærfjorden. It is at least 1.5 m deep with 6 m of clearance under the road bridge, and by the bridge stands a statue of the troll Kassetassen from Gabriel Scott's books. Our Kristiansand guide continues west through the lead to the city.
