Hommersåk: a harbour village on Riskafjorden
Hommersåk is a village in the Riska district of Sandnes, at the head of Riskafjorden, with its own quay and fast-boat connections to Stavanger. Most boats on this page are not moored here but elsewhere around Stavanger and Sandnes, on Hundvåg and Vassøy, in Tananger and at Forsand. A pilothouse boat listed under Sandnes is kept at Hommersåk itself, so check each listing for the handover point.
The village is well placed for the fjords to the east. At Forsand, Lysefjorden begins and runs 42 km inland between rock walls more than 1,000 m high, though the water at its mouth is only about 13 m deep. An owner a little east of the village reckons 15–20 minutes by boat to the fjord. Westwards, the water opens towards Stavanger; our five Stavanger boat routes include the full Lysefjorden run.
Go gently close to the village. Sandnes requires slow speed in Hommersåkvågen and in Høllen between Ådnøy and Høle, and no more than 5 knots within 50 m of a bathing place.
