Chartering from Port Grimaud
Every boat on this page is based in Port Grimaud, the canal town on the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, about 7 km from both Saint-Tropez and Sainte-Maxime. The architect François Spoerry built it on marshland in the 1960s, with Venetian-style canals lined by fishermen's-style houses, most of which have their own berth. That earned it the nickname "Venice of Provence". The charter fleet splits between catamarans and sailing yachts, rented by the week.
Until the end of the 19th century the bay itself was known as the Gulf of Grimaud. A short crossing takes you to the old port of Saint-Tropez, and further round the coast lies Pampelonne, a 5 km run of beaches south of Saint-Tropez below Ramatuelle. Sainte-Maxime sits on the northern shore, under the Massif des Maures. For a week along the Riviera, our Saint-Tropez to Cannes itinerary starts right here and heads east past the Estérel to Cannes.
Port Grimaud's harbour office listens on VHF channel 9. The canals are lined with private berths, so ask the office where visiting boats may moor before heading in.
