Engavågen, below the Svartisen glacier
Engavågen is a village of around 800 people in the southern part of Meløy, south of Bodø and 25 km from the Svartisen glacier. None of the boats shown is kept in Engavågen itself. Some are listed under Meløy: a 17-foot open boat that stands on a trailer and a day cruiser with a small cabin, offered with a skipper. Another is on Omnøya, a fishing boat with space for a simple overnight stay.
Meløy has some 700 islands around the Meløyfjorden, Glomfjorden and Holandsfjorden, all just north of the Arctic Circle.
Engabreen, an arm of Svartisen, reached down to 20 m above sea level in 2007, the lowest of any glacier on the European mainland. It is reached by the Holandsfjorden. Petrol is not included on the Meløy boats, so fill up before a long trip up the fjord.
