Every boat listed for Capo d'Orlando is berthed in the same place: Capo d'Orlando Marina on Sicily's Tyrrhenian coast, a modern harbour with 553 berths for boats up to 50 m, a travel lift and a Blue Flag. Call it on VHF 09. Catamarans make up a large part of the fleet, alongside sailing yachts and a few motor boats, and most are chartered by the week.
The draw is the view north. The marina puts the Aeolian Islands only 14 nautical miles away, with Vulcano the closest. Behind it lie Lipari, the largest island of the group, and Salina, known for its vineyards and for the anchorages at Pollara and Lingua. Vulcano itself has fumaroles and black-sand beaches. The seven inhabited islands together are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
If Stromboli is on your list, the volcano sets the rules. A Capitaneria di Porto di Milazzo ordinance keeps boats at least 2 nautical miles off the Sciara del Fuoco, the volcano's lava slope, and access to the summit is restricted. The rules have been tightened several times, so check the current ordinance before you go.
