Lipari is the largest of the seven Aeolian Islands, about 30 km off Sicily's north coast, and its main town is the seat of a municipality that takes in six of the islands. The waterfront has two parts: Marina Corta, a small square on the sea with the church of the Anime del Purgatorio on its seaward side, and Marina Lunga, the seafront road that runs north to the village of Canneto.
