Averøy is an island municipality on Nordmøre, facing the Norwegian Sea, with Kristiansund to the east and Hustadvika to the south-west. Most people live on Averøya, the largest island, which is ringed by smaller ones such as Storsandøya, Langøya, Hasseløya and Honningsøya.
