Trapani: charter port for the Egadi Islands
All the boats on this page are listed in the port of Trapani, on the western tip of Sicily. The city's old name, Drepanon, comes from the Greek word for sickle, after the curve of its harbour, and the port is still the main gateway to the Egadi Islands. The fleet is broad: sailing yachts and catamarans for bareboat or skippered weeks, a trimaran, several motor yachts and a 24 m motorsailer that runs liveaboard and diving trips.
Distances to the islands are short: - Levanzo, about 13 km west of the city - Favignana, the largest island, about 16 km south-west - Marettimo, about 24 km out, the most distant of the group
The islets of Formica and Maraone lie between Levanzo and the Sicilian coast. A week-long loop from Trapani is set out in our Egadi sailing itinerary, which links all three islands with San Vito lo Capo and the Zingaro coast.
The archipelago is a marine protected area, and visiting boats need an authorisation from the reserve before using it. The reserve has also started laying mooring buoys at sites on Favignana and Levanzo, so check which ones are in service when you plan your nights.
