San Vincenzo: sailing towards Elba
Every boat on this page is based at Marina di San Vincenzo, the tourist port in the heart of the Etruscan Coast, the stretch of Livorno province that runs from Livorno to the headland of Piombino. The marina stands where the town's old trading port used to be, and the nearest airport is Pisa, about 80 km away.
Almost all are monohull sailing yachts, with some catamarans, all on weekly charter.
South of the harbour runs a long line of sandy beaches with pine woods behind them, including the Rimigliano nature reserve, and further on are the Gulf of Baratti and Populonia, known for its Etruscan remains. Beyond Populonia is Piombino, facing Elba across a channel only about 10 km wide. Elba is the largest island of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, which also covers Capraia, Pianosa, Montecristo, Gorgona, Giglio and Giannutri.
The park regulates what boats may do in parts of its waters. Around Capraia, for example, the sea is divided into zones that allow different uses, and the park publishes the zone map.
