Piombino: two marinas facing Elba
The yachts listed for Piombino are split between two harbours in town. Most are berthed at Marina di Salivoli, opened in 2000 in the residential north-west of the town, just south of the Punta Falcone headland. It has about 490 berths for boats up to 24 m, with an average depth of around 3 m. The rest, including several catamarans, lie at the newer Marina Arcipelago Toscano, a project planned for 656 berths of 8 to 20 m.
Almost everything here is a sailing monohull or catamaran on a weekly charter, from compact cruisers to large family catamarans.
Salivoli describes itself as the only harbour on this coast that looks out over the whole Tuscan Archipelago, and the mainland's closest point to Corsica. Elba is the obvious first leg: Portoferraio is roughly 10 nautical miles away, with Capraia, Pianosa and the other protected islands of the archipelago's national park further out.
