Pianottoli-Caldarello and the Baie de Figari
The catamarans on this page are all based at the small marina of Pianottoli-Caldarello, on the western shore of the Baie de Figari in southern Corsica. It is a catamaran-only fleet in several sizes, rented by the week.
The commune has about 8 km of coast, with beaches at Arbitro, Chevanu and Saint-Jean, and a round Genoese tower from the late 16th century, the Tour de Figari (Caldarello), midway along the bay's western side. The Bruzzi islets lie within the commune, and Bonifacio and the Lavezzi lie further east. Our South Corsica and Strait of Bonifacio loop works from this base too.
Most of the water here is protected. The Bouches de Bonifacio nature reserve covers 79,000 ha of sea from the Bruzzi and the Moines islets in the west to Pointe de la Chiappa in the east, and the Bruzzi and Moines have their own biotope protection orders, so check the rules before anchoring or going ashore.
