Renting a boat in Poltu Quatu: Marina dell'Orso
Poltu Quatu's harbour, Marina dell'Orso, lies inside a narrow inlet that nautical charts call Stintino dell'Orso, on the north-east coast of Sardinia between the bays of Liscia di Vacca and Baja Sardinia. A performance-oriented sailing yacht is based here.
The marina has 305 berths for boats from 8 to 35 m. The water is about 3 m deep at the entrance and 2 m at the innermost quays, fuel is available, and arriving boats call the marina on VHF channel 9.
Opposite the inlet lie Caprera and the small Cappuccini islet. Caprera was Garibaldi's home, and a road bridge joins it to La Maddalena. The whole archipelago is a national park, and you need the park ticket to sail, moor or anchor within 300 m of its coasts. A seven-day route through La Maddalena and the Costa Smeralda takes in the islands one by one.
