Catamarans and yachts in Golfo Aranci
Most boats listed for Golfo Aranci are kept in the town's own harbour, at the foot of Capo Figari. A second group lies at Marina dell'Isola, a private marina of about 130 berths in the Marinella bay, west of the town towards Porto Rotondo. Catamarans dominate, from compact models to large 50-footers, with some sailing yachts among them.
Leaving port, the first landmark is Capo Figari, a limestone headland 344 m high that closes the Gulf of Olbia to the north, with the island of Figarolo beside it. The headland is a protected EU habitat site and can be reached from the sea at Cala Greca. South of the gulf, Tavolara rises 565 m out of the water, an island 5 km long and barely 1 km wide. North of Golfo Aranci the Costa Smeralda leads towards La Maddalena, the route of our La Maddalena and Costa Smeralda loop.
Plan the Tavolara day with care. The island and its waters are part of the Tavolara–Punta Coda Cavallo marine protected area, managed by Olbia, Loiri Porto San Paolo and San Teodoro and divided into zones with different levels of protection, so check the zone map before you anchor. Back in port, give way to the ferries: Golfo Aranci has connections to Civitavecchia and other mainland ports.
