Chartering from Porto Rotondo
Porto Rotondo, a resort village of Olbia started in 1964 by the Venetian brothers Luigi and Nicolò Donà dalle Rose, sits between the Gulf of Cugnana and the Gulf of Marinella. Its Marina di Porto Rotondo fills a natural inlet running from Punta Nuraghe to Punta Volpe.
Most charter yachts listed here set out from the base at Punta Nuraghe, the headland on the Cugnana side of the village. Fewer boats use Marina di Asfodeli, inside the Gulf of Cugnana and named after Punta Asfodeli, with more than 80 berths for yachts up to 27 m. Catamarans make up a large share of the fleet alongside sailing yachts, and there is a crewed motor yacht as well.
Outside the gulf, the closest island is Mortorio, a granite island of about 0.6 km² opposite Porto Rotondo's Spiaggia delle Alghe. Although it lies only a few miles off the Costa Smeralda, it belongs to La Maddalena municipality and to the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park, so the park's rules apply there too: check them before you anchor.
North along the coast are Cala di Volpe and Porto Cervo, and the main archipelago beyond. A seven-day Maddalena loop in our guides plans a week around these waters.
