Do I need a boat licence in Greece?
Not for a small motorboat: in Greece an outboard of up to 30 hp is licence-free on a conventional hull, but only up to 15 hp on a RIB or V-hull. To charter a yacht bareboat the skipper needs a recognised licence, and the ICC is the safest choice; with a hired skipper nobody on board needs one. Read our full licence guide.

Lygia, a small harbour on Lefkada's east coast
Lygia is a seaside village on the east coast of Lefkada, about 7 km south-south-east of Lefkada town, between Kariotes and Katouna. Its small harbour serves the island's fishing boats and pleasure craft, and all the boats on this page, mostly catamarans plus a few sailing yachts, are based at what the listings call Lygia Marina. Charters run by the week.
Starting here puts Lefkada town a short way north and the inner Ionian straight ahead. Heading south along the coast you pass Nydri and the islets of Madouri, Sparti and Skorpios on the way to Meganisi, whose sights include the Papanikolis sea cave, with Kalamos, Kastos and Atokos further on. Our Ionian week from Lefkada links these islands with Ithaca and Kefalonia.
Much of this inner archipelago is protected under Natura 2000. The Municipality of Meganisi points to its seagrass meadows and to the common dolphin, which survives here in one of only three or four populations left in the Mediterranean. Anchor on clear sand rather than seagrass, and give dolphins plenty of room.
