What is Ship O’Hoi?

Henån, Orust's main town

Henån is the central town of Orust, which at 346 km² is Sweden's fourth-largest island. It grew in the mid-1800s around trade and an inn, gained a steamboat connection and became Orust's first seaside resort.

A 5.25 m family sailing boat is based here, with an outboard and four simple berths, whose home harbour is Henån. It draws only 0.7 m, so it can slip into shallow natural harbours and coves. The owner keeps it on a trailer ashore at Orust Marina, so ask whether it is in the water for your dates. There is no electricity or galley, and bedding is not included.

A centre-console boat for up to seven is at Nordströmmarna on Skaftö, north-west of Orust; its owner names Hållö lighthouse, Smögen and Gullholmen among the goals. The fishing villages on Orust's west side, from Mollösund to Käringön, feature in our routes around Tjörn and Orust.
