Dènia: two marinas at the foot of the Montgó
The boats listed for Dènia are split between the town's two marinas. Most are catamarans at Marina El Portet, offered either bareboat or with crew, while some sailing yachts lie in Marina de Dènia. Not every boat needs a full week: some listings accept a charter of one or two days, so check the minimum in each.
Dènia is the closest mainland Spanish town to Ibiza, and ferries to the Balearic Islands sail from its port, so a crossing is a realistic plan for an experienced crew. Nearer home, the coast has two faces: Les Marines to the north, with long sandy beaches, and Les Rotes to the south, where a family beach gives way to rocky coves good for snorkelling. Past Les Rotes the Montgó reaches the sea at the Cabo de San Antonio, with Xàbia bay beyond. Our Costa Blanca itinerary from Dènia continues south to Moraira, Calp and Altea.
Around the cape you are in a marine reserve. Anchoring is forbidden there, boats may only tie up to the authorised buoys, and the speed limit is 6 knots. The town's tourist office also calls the Posidonia seagrass the treasure of its coastline, another good reason to keep the anchor off the seabed.
