Austevoll: 667 islands south of Bergen
Austevoll is an island municipality of 667 islands, islets and skerries with 337 km of shoreline, facing the North Sea between Bergen and Sunnhordland. It is Norway's most populous municipality without a road link to the mainland. No boats are listed on the islands. The nearest are around the Bjørnafjord and south of Bergen: a cabin cruiser in Lysefjorden at Lysekloster, a motor launch in Os, an open fishing boat at Nordvik and a day cruiser in Bergen.
Bekkjarvik, on the Bekkjarviksundet on the east side of Selbjørn, is an old fishing village whose inn dates from the late 1600s. Further west, Møkster, Stolmen and Storakalsøy face the open sea. The run from Hjellestad to Bekkjarvik and Stolmen is one of our Bergen day trips.
Huftarøy, Selbjørn, Hundvåko, Stolmen and Storakalsøy are all joined by bridges, so check your height under them: Storholmsbrua gives 18 m of clearance and Hundvåkøybrua 28 m.
