Santa Cruz de Tenerife: two bases on opposite coasts
The boats on this page are split between two harbours on different sides of Tenerife. Bareboat sailing yachts of about 13 and 14 m are based at Marina Santa Cruz, at the Dársena de Los Llanos in the city's port, and chartered by the week. The crewed boats, motorboats of about 9 m and a sailing yacht, are at Club Náutico Puerto Colón, whose address is in Costa Adeje on the island's south-west coast, so check which base you are booking.
From Santa Cruz the coast north-east leads to the Anaga massif, the oldest part of Tenerife, formed 7 to 9 million years ago and a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2015. On the way you pass San Andrés and Las Teresitas, a 1.3 km beach of pale sand brought from the Sahara in 1973 and sheltered by a 1 km breakwater. For a week that includes La Gomera, see our Tenerife and La Gomera sailing guide.
The marina lies inside a busy commercial port. The Port of Santa Cruz handles about 23% of all sea passengers in the Canary Islands, with inter-island ferries, cargo and cruise ships, so keep a lookout in the approaches.
