Chartering from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

The sailing yachts on this page are based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the largest city in the Canary Islands, on the island's north-east coast. Expect larger yachts for a week, with a seven-day minimum, such as a 45 ft yacht with four cabins or a 51 ft yacht with five.

The north-east trade wind blows on more than half of the days in autumn, winter and spring and on 90–95 % of summer days. The south coast harbours of Pasito Blanco, Puerto Rico, Arguineguín and Mogán are about 35–40 nautical miles away round the south-east corner. The east coast, with the acceleration zones off Gando and Arinaga, is best sailed downwind. Santa Cruz de Tenerife is about 48 nautical miles across the channel.

In the harbours run by Puertos Canarios, request a berth at least three days ahead. More in our guide to sailing the Canary Islands in winter.
