Renting a boat in Otterbäcken: an electric launch on Lake Vänern
Otterbäcken is a village in Gullspång municipality on the east shore of Lake Vänern, and its harbour is Vänern's only natural deep-water port, used for bulk cargo. Visiting boats use the guest harbour, which has a petrol and diesel pump, fresh water, a trailer ramp and 2 m of water at the guest jetty. A railway museum and a maritime museum are a stone's throw away.
The boat listed here is an electric launch in the style of a Norwegian snipa, offered with a skipper. It glides almost silently at 4–6 knots, which suits calm trips along the shore.
At the southern end of the village a long, west-facing sandy beach with a jetty and a diving raft keeps the sun well into the evening. For routes further out on the lake, from Mariestad to Djurö, see our Lake Vänern guide.
