Lignano Sabbiadoro: between the lagoon and the Tagliamento
Lignano Sabbiadoro covers the peninsula between the Marano lagoon and the mouth of the Tagliamento, the river that separates the Friulian coast from Bibione in Veneto. Around the peninsula, from the lagoon to the river, it has seven marinas with about 5,000 berths between them. The catamarans on this page are listed simply at the Lignano base, so ask which marina you board at. Expect large catamarans for a week, such as a 60 ft sailing catamaran with four cabins or a 50 ft power catamaran with five.
Behind the town lies the Marano lagoon, about 160 km² and stretching roughly 30 km east to the Porto Buso inlet, where the Grado lagoon begins. It meets the sea through three inlets, one of them at Lignano. Much of the inside is mudflat at water level, and high tide can reach a metre, so check the tide and your draught first.
