Renting a catamaran in Canet-en-Roussillon
Canet-en-Roussillon is the seaside town closest to Perpignan, about 9 km to the east, on the sandy coast of the Gulf of Lion. Its port has about 1,300 berths and describes itself as lying at the gateway to the Côte Vermeille, inside the Gulf of Lion Marine Nature Park.
A catamaran for eight guests in three cabins is based in the port and chartered bareboat by the week, Saturday to Saturday.
South of Argelès-sur-Mer the Pyrenees meet the sea and the coast turns rocky, with the fishing ports of Collioure, Port-Vendres and Banyuls-sur-Mer on the way to the Spanish border. The marine park covers more than 100 km of coast, from Leucate to Cerbère. Before leaving, check the forecast for the tramontane: our guide to sailing in France explains this strong west to north-west wind of Roussillon.
