Alimos is a seaside municipality of greater Athens, 8 km south of the city centre, formed in 1968 from coastal Kalamaki and inland Trachones. In antiquity it was Halimous, a fishing village and the birthplace of the historian Thucydides. Much of its shoreline is Alimos Marina, one of the most historic marinas in Greece by its own account.
