Renting a boat in Aegina: questions and answers
Can I rent a boat with a skipper in Aegina?
Yes. All 2 boats on this page can be rented with a skipper or captain, so nobody in your group has to drive.
How many people can come along on a rental boat in Aegina?
The boats here take up to 10 people.
Do I need a boat licence in Greece?
Not for a small motorboat: in Greece an outboard of up to 30 hp is licence-free on a conventional hull, but only up to 15 hp on a RIB or V-hull. To charter a yacht bareboat the skipper needs a recognised licence, and the ICC is the safest choice; with a hired skipper nobody on board needs one. Read our full licence guide.

Aegina: crewed yachts in the island's main harbour
The yachts on this page are based in the town harbour of Aegina, at the north-western end of the island and 27 km from Athens. Hydrofoils from Piraeus take about forty minutes. These are crewed charters: the owners sail with their guests, with a skipper and a host on board, on a large sailing catamaran or a sailing yacht.
Agistri, Aegina's small green neighbour, is about 6 nautical miles away, with swimming bays at Dragonera and Chalikiada. Perdika, at the island's southern tip, is a small harbour lined with fish tavernas. It lies opposite the islet of Moni, home to deer, peacocks and wild goats. The loop on to Poros and Hydra is in our Saronic Gulf itinerary.
The Municipal Port Fund of Aegina runs the harbour and handles berths. Ferries use it throughout the day, so keep the ferry quays clear.
