Yacht charter on Procida
Most yachts listed for Procida are based on the island itself, at Marina di Procida. A few start on the mainland side of the bay instead, at Pozzuoli, Baia di Bacoli and Nisida in Naples, or across on Ischia. Catamarans slightly outnumber monohulls, and there are some motor yachts and a gulet. Marina Grande is Procida's main landing point, served by ferries and hydrofoils from Naples, Pozzuoli and Ischia.
Procida covers only 3.7 km², but its shore changes quickly: Corricella is the old fishing village, Chiaiolella the small tourist harbour, and Terra Murata the fortified borough at 91 m. A bridge from 1957 joins it to Vivara, the crescent-shaped rim of an old crater and a state nature reserve since 2002.
All of this sits inside the Regno di Nettuno marine protected area, which covers the waters around Ischia, Procida and Vivara. Zone A is closed to everything except rescue and service craft, sailing is allowed in zone B, and recreational boats may use zone C, so look up which zone you are in before dropping anchor.
Mind the channels. Between Procida and the mainland the water is only 14–15 m deep at the narrowest point, with reefs that restrict larger vessels. On the Ischia side, the Formiche di Vivara rocks lie about 800 m west of Punta d'Alaca at 4–5 m depth, in a channel that ferries use all day.
