What is Ship O’Hoi?

Agropoli, gateway to the Cilento coast

Agropoli stands at the southern end of the Gulf of Salerno, on the western edge of the Cilento National Park, with its old town on a rocky spur above the harbour. Since its post-war expansion the port has been the Cilento's main harbour for pleasure and fishing boats, and all the boats listed here, sailing yachts and catamarans, are based in it. Several can be booked for three days or more as well as by the week.

South of town, Trentova bay and its rock, tied to the shore by a thin strip of land you can walk along, lead on towards Punta Tresino. Beyond it, the coast of Castellabate runs to Punta Licosa, where a small island with a lighthouse closes the Gulf of Salerno to the south. Across the gulf to the north-west lie Amalfi and Capri, and our Amalfi Coast itinerary plans a week there.

From Punta Tresino to Licosa you are in the Santa Maria di Castellabate marine protected area. Its zone A, the coast between Punta Tresino and Punta Pagliarola, is a strict reserve where even swimming is banned, and in zone B boats may go no faster than 5 knots within 300 m of the shore.
