What is Ship O’Hoi?
Sitges: Aiguadolç and Port Ginesta
Sitges has two harbours for the boats on this page. Most leave from Port d'Aiguadolç, built in 1972–75 at the eastern edge of town between Balmins and Aiguadolç beaches, about 20 minutes by car from Barcelona airport. Its entrance channel is 3 m deep, with 2–4 m inside, and there is fuel around the clock. A few, including catamarans, are at Port Ginesta, about 10 km north-east in Les Botigues de Sitges on the border with Castelldefels, a large marina with berths set aside for catamarans. The choice is mostly motor yachts and day boats, with some sailing yachts and catamarans.
East of Sitges the Garraf massif drops into the sea in limestone cliffs, and Visit Sitges counts more than twenty beaches and coves along that coast that are reachable by boat. The small harbour of Garraf lies a few miles up the coast, and Vilanova i la Geltrú is a short run south-west. Our Barcelona and Garraf coast guide plans a week that includes Barcelona.
Coming back to a town beach, remember that the swimming zone is buoyed off 200 m from the shore, and boats may only cross it through the marked 20 m channels, such as those at La Fragata and La Ribera.
