Renting a boat on Vestvågøy: a trailer boat from Valberg
In the Viking Age the island of Vestvågøya was called Lofotr, the name that later passed to all of Lofoten. The municipality of Vestvågøy was formed in 1963 from Buksnes, Hol, Borge and Valberg.
The boat listed here is at Valberg on the east side of the island: an easy-to-drive 14 ft boat that seats four, fitted with a 20 hp four-stroke outboard, console steering and a USB charger. Because it comes on a registered trailer, you can launch it elsewhere on the island.
About 8.5 km from Valberg as the crow flies is Stamsund, a fishing village of rorbuer, the old fishermen's cabins, with daily Hurtigruten calls. The west side of the island is known for white sand beaches such as Haukland, Utakleiv and Eggum. Henningsvær, one of the trips in our six Lofoten routes, lies about 14 km east of Valberg.
