Lefkas town, in the north: D-Marin Marina Lefkas and the Port of Lefkas lie on the canal beside the old town, with its shops and tavernas. A good start if you want to explore the whole island, or head north through the canal.
The east coast: Lygia Marina, Nikiana Marina, Marina Perigiali, Nydri Port, Hotel Armonia in Nydri, Vliho Yacht Club and Vliho Bay face Meganisi across a narrow, sheltered channel. Most of the fleet is based in Lefkas town, but from the east-coast bases Meganisi is a short hop for your first afternoon.
Sivota, in the south: Sivota Marina Lefkada sits in a small, sheltered inlet and is the closest base to Ithaca and Kefalonia.

Sailing from Lefkada: the canal and the islands
The water between Lefkada's east coast and the mainland, often called the Inland Sea, is one of the most sheltered cruising areas in Greece. The breeze usually builds in the afternoon and dies away in the evening, so mornings are calm and passages short.
A typical week takes in Meganisi's quiet bays, the small islands of Kalamos and Kastos, and Ithaca and Kefalonia to the south-west. Heading north instead, you pass through the Lefkas canal, where a floating bridge swings open at set times to let boats through to Preveza and the mainland coast.
Bareboat or with a skipper?
The short hops and sheltered water make Lefkada a favourite for a first bareboat charter. In Greece that requires a recognised sailing licence, such as the ICC, for the skipper and one more crew member with sailing experience. If nobody in your group holds one, book a yacht with a skipper. Each listing shows which options it offers.
When to go and how booking works
The season runs from April to October. May, June and September bring warm water and quieter anchorages; July and August are the busiest weeks. Most yachts are chartered by the week, Saturday to Saturday, and each listing shows the price and availability for your dates before you book and pay securely online.
