Charter a yacht on the Italian Riviera and see the Cinque Terre, Portovenere and Portofino from the sea. Most boats sail from La Spezia and the Gulf of Poets; there are also yachts in Genoa and Imperia. Compare sailboats, catamarans and motor yachts, bareboat or with a skipper.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I charter a yacht for the Cinque Terre?

Can I sail to Portofino from La Spezia?

Do I need a licence to charter a yacht on the Italian Riviera?

La Spezia: the charter base of the Riviera

La Spezia is where most Riviera yacht charters start, from Porto Mirabello, Porto Lotti and Fezzano in the Gulf of Poets. Bocca di Magra, at the mouth of the Magra river, is just east of the gulf. Further west there are a few yachts in Genoa and Imperia.

Cinque Terre, Portovenere and Portofino

From La Spezia you round Portovenere and the island of Palmaria and reach the five villages of the Cinque Terre in a few hours. Further north-west are Sestri Levante, Chiavari and Portofino. The Cinque Terre and Portofino are marine protected areas with limited anchoring and mooring buoys in places, so plan the route with the base and book harbour nights early in summer.

Bareboat or with a skipper?

The skipper of a bareboat charter needs a recognised licence such as the ICC and usually a VHF certificate; otherwise, add a skipper. Most charters run by the week. South of La Spezia, Tuscany and Elba are a natural extension; see also yacht charter in Italy.
