Frequently asked questions
Where do I rent a yacht for the Amalfi Coast?
Can I sail from the Amalfi Coast to Capri?
Do I need a licence for a yacht charter on the Amalfi Coast?
Where do Amalfi Coast yacht charters start?
The Amalfi Coast itself has almost no charter marinas, so yachts for the coast sail from the bases around it. This page lists every one of them together.
Salerno has the largest fleet, most of it at Marina d'Arechi. From there it is a short sail west along the coast to Amalfi, Positano and the Li Galli islands. Castellammare di Stabia and Naples sit on the Bay of Naples, with Sorrento and Capri ahead of you. Procida is the base for the islands in the west of the bay, Ischia and Procida itself.
A week on the Amalfi Coast
A typical week from Salerno heads west past Amalfi and Positano to Capri, then over to Ischia and Procida and back along the Sorrento peninsula. Nights at anchor under the cliffs alternate with harbour nights in Amalfi, Sorrento or on Ischia. Parts of the coast, like Punta Campanella, are marine protected areas where anchoring is limited, so plan your stops with the charter base.
Bareboat or with a skipper?
To charter bareboat, the skipper needs a recognised licence such as the ICC or a national sailing licence, and usually a VHF radio certificate (SRC). Without one, book a skipper; many yachts here also come fully crewed. Most charters run Saturday to Saturday. For the rest of Italy, see yacht charter in Italy.
