Where to charter a catamaran in Italy
Most catamarans in Italy are based in Sardinia, around Portisco and Olbia on the north-east coast, and in Sicily, at Capo d'Orlando and Portorosa facing the Aeolian Islands. There are smaller catamaran fleets in the Bay of Naples and in Tuscany. See all boats for charter in Italy for sailboats and motor yachts.
Why a catamaran?
A catamaran's shallow draft lets you anchor close to the beach in the bays of the Maddalena archipelago or the Aeolian Islands, and its stability makes it a good choice for families and crews new to sailing. With four to six cabins, a catamaran often costs less per person than two smaller yachts.
Licence and booking
For a bareboat catamaran charter the skipper needs a recognised licence such as the ICC, and charter companies usually ask for a VHF radio certificate (SRC). Without them, choose a catamaran with a skipper. Catamarans are chartered by the week, usually Saturday to Saturday; each listing shows the price and availability for your dates.
