Everything you need to know about daycruisers
Daycruisers are among the most popular boat types in Scandinavia. They combine comfort, performance and versatility in a way that makes them perfect for coastal boating. Whether you are planning a relaxed day in the Oslo Fjord, a fishing trip in the Gothenburg archipelago, or a sunset cruise along the Swedish west coast, a daycruiser is an excellent choice.
Typical features and equipment
Most daycruisers have an open cockpit with a sheltered helm, comfortable seats that often convert to a sun lounger, a swim platform with ladder, and a small storage area below deck. Many models also include a bimini top for shade, a sound system and a chart plotter. Larger daycruisers may have a small cabin with a berth for short overnight stays.
Popular areas for daycruiser rental in Norway and Sweden
In Norway, the Oslofjord is one of the most popular areas for daycruiser rental, with its many islands, coves and swimming spots. The southern coast offers fantastic archipelago experiences, while the western coast provides dramatic fjord landscapes. In Sweden, the Stockholm archipelago with over 30,000 islands, the Gothenburg archipelago and the Bohuslän coast are hugely popular for daycruiser trips, offering stunning rocky coastlines and charming fishing villages.
Tips for first-time renters
If you are new to daycruisers, we recommend starting with a model in the 18–22 foot range. These are easier to manoeuvre and give you a solid introduction to boating. Check the weather forecast before departure, bring sunscreen and life jackets, and plan your route in advance. On Ship O´Hoi you can read reviews from other renters to find the perfect boat for you.
